The Roaring Road: Race to the Finish!

Hello Everyone!
The Road Trip Dog, barking at you once again, says "The publishing date is approaching fast." At this time we have a great cover artist working on the cover. The work in process previews that I've seen are superb. I had been working towards a March 21 publishing but in reality it looks like early to mid April.

We went through and finalized our font choices. The editor gets a final edit and the beta readers have promised to read and report back in a reasonable amount of time. Two of them have seen sample chapters and their reports have been very positive.

Under discussion are the publishing options. It will be self-published, that we know for certain. It will be an e-book and a paperback. The choice right now is if it will be two volumes or one. One volume makes for a bigger book and some are wary of a new author publishing a large book. In paper, a larger book in page count means a more expensive book, which could hinder sales. The e-books are less expensive and easier to split into two volumes. A current thought is to put it out in two volumes in e-books, and a large paperback with the complete story in paperback, still keeping a reasonable price but more expensive than the e-books. That way, if someone wants to read some of the book to gauge their interest, they can purchase the first volume in an e-book, and if they like it enough they can purchase volume two on e-book. Both volumes will be released at the same time so no worries that the second volume will never publish - it's already written! However, we know that there are still a lot of paper book readers out there, and they might try the first on e-book but buy the complete story in paper. I like that because if I like a book I will often re-read it in three to five years. However, we will be happy to read your comments. Two paperback books will cost more than one full story paper book, so the option to read the first part in e-book may be a way to go. Thoughts and comments requested.

I will begin updating the blog weekly now until publishing. Next week, a condensed outline (no spoilers) will hopefully serve to provide a better idea of what to expect. We are also working on a Facebook page and maybe even a page on deviantArt. For those of you who don't know it, dA is an artist's site, artist meaning any of the artistic pursuits from drawing to writing to photography to whatever. Don't worry that the name is deviant art. Go there and you'll see what I mean. You can get a basic account for free, and our dA page will be accessible.

The author is already working on the next book, planned to be a sequel to The Roaring Road although he does have some other works in progress that are completely different in scope and time period. But he is most excited about taking the Main Characters (and they ARE characters, they even argued with the author when he wrote something they didn't want to do) and moving them onward from the finish of The Roaring Road in 1926. There's lots of The Roaring Twenties and Prohibition yet!

The Dog Barks excitedly - we will publish soon! Sign up for an email notification of the publish date or check back here often. I also update the slideshow photos and flapper humor pages every now and then.
